About The Program

American Geosciences Institute is inviting participants from across the globe to participate in Earth Expressions Video Contest 2018 for Earth Science Week 2018. The participants should submit a 30-90 seconds original video that showcases how art can be a brilliant means to learn about the Earth.

Individuals or teams of any age in any part of the world can participate in the contest.

Benefits

The winner will receive:

  • A prize of USD 300
  • A copy of AGI's The Geoscience Handbook

Further, his/her photograph will be used on the Earth Science Week Website and the winner's and finalists' names will be posted on the Earth Science Week Website.

Contest video entries will be judged on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Exploration of an example of “Earth Expressions”
  • Elements of earth system science (Geoscience)
  • Creative approach to holding the attention of the audience
  • Prowess in technicality

Terms and Conditions

The participant(s) must:

  • Certify the originality of the content in the video and that it belongs to the participant(s).
  • Obtain permission to use any location showcased in the video.
  • Ensure that all submission information is accurate.
  • Provide duly signed Official Photo/Video Release Form for every person visibly recognized in the video.
  • Verify the permission from parents or legal guardians to participate in the contest for all participants under the age of 18 years.
  • Maintain safe practices.
  • Be respectful of any featured location(s), other people using the site, and wildlife.
  • Provide accurate and proper contact information of the participant(s).
  • Serve as the single point of contact in case of a team participation.
  • Timely response to notifications from the American Geosciences Institute.
  • Provide the names and ages of all participant(s).
  • Provide the name of the site and a brief description of any featured location(s), including longitude and latitude.

The video must:

  • Be suitable for display to a general audience with respect to language, visual content, presentation, themes and related issues.
  • Be completed in English, and videos must include content that is entirely understandable to an English-speaking audience.
  • Be previously unpublished, original content and must be the sole property of the participants, not previously submitted to any other contest.
