Early Childhood Development Reporting Fellowship 2017 invites application from journalists of all mediums like radio, broadcast, print, or online. The objective of this program is to encourage news coverage of child health and form a global network of reporters covering this issue. The selected fellows will receive travel expenses, including visas, flights, hotels and local transportation.

    • Open to journalists who covers issues of child health and development
    • Journalists from all mediums are eligible to apply like radio, broadcast, print, and online
    • Applicants who have previous experience of covering early childhood development issues, but journalists who currently cover health or nutrition-related topics and are interested in increasing their coverage of children's issues are also eligible to apply
    • Applicants must be proficient in English

Terms and Conditions

Story project proposal:

  • Applicants have to submit a project proposal focusing on early childhood development of not more than 300 words
  • The proposal should outline story ideas to be pursued and a publishing plan to produce at least 2 stories per month over a 1-year period
  • Include a 1 or 2 sentence description of the overall project idea and some background on the issue
  • Explain if and how the issue has been covered before and how it is relevant to the community
  • Include details on how an applicant will use digital technologies, data and other innovative strategies in the project
  • The proposal must include a detailed timeline and signed agreement to the terms of the program

Documents required to be attached:

  • Resume or CV
  • Examples of stories produced on early-childhood development
  • Reporting-project proposal that outlines story ideas the fellow will pursue and a reporting and publishing/broadcasting plan (project timeline should be in Excel, Word or PDF document)

Note:
As a part of this project, the applicant should produce 2 stories a month on early childhood development and health issues over a period of 1-year.
