For STI-Senior Policy Fellow
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Hold a doctoral degree in science/medicine/engineering/social science (with a background of STI policy) with a good academic record
- Have a minimum experience of 3 years related to direct STI policy at the postdoctoral level
- Be capable of doing independent research work
- Have published at least 3 research papers in peer-reviewed journals
- Be below 42 years of age at the time of application
For STI-Postdoctoral Policy Fellow
An applicant must -
- Hold a doctoral degree in science/medicine/engineering/social science (with a background of STI policy) with a good academic record
- Be capable of doing independent research work
- Have published at least 3 research papers in peer-reviewed journals
- Be below 40 years of age at the time of application
For STI-Young Policy Professional
An applicant must -
- Hold a master’s degree in science/medicine/engineering/social science (with a background of STI policy) with a good academic record (Note: Candidates with master's degree in public policy/public administration/data sciences/statistics (with S&T specialization) are encouraged)
- Be below 30 years of age at the time of application
Note - Age relaxation of 3 (three) years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates.
Benefits
For STI-Senior Policy Fellow
- A fellowship of INR 98,000 (consolidated) per month
- A grant of INR 200,000 annually to cover research-related costs, travel and contingency
For STI-Postdoctoral Policy Fellow
- A fellowship of INR 80,000 (consolidated) per month
- A grant of INR 1,50,000 annually to cover research-related costs, travel and contingency
For STI-Young Policy Professional
- A fellowship of INR 44,000 (consolidated) per month
- A grant of INR 100,000 annually to cover research-related costs, travel and contingency

- A two-page write-up on an identified STI policy issue (for STI-Young Policy Professional)

Selection Criteria
The duly constituted Selection Committee will shortlist candidates based on their track record and the relevance, quality, and significance of their proposals/write-ups, etc. Then a personal interview will be organized for shortlisted candidates to make the final decision.

- Applicants are required to submit their application in prescribed format only.
- Applicants are not required to send the hard copy of the application to DST.
- R&D related proposals will not be considered. The proposal must be on STI policy-related issues only.
- A total of 3 fellowships are available under STI-Senior Policy Fellow, 5 under STI-Postdoctoral Policy Fellow/ Research Associates and 7 under STI-Young Policy Professional. The numbers are tentative and can be increased/decreased at the discretion of DST.
- The remuneration and terms and conditions will be guided as per applicable rules of DST/host institute.
