DST and Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2018 invites applications from engineering students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate & Doctoral degrees from Indian engineering colleges. The contest aims to identify top innovators & give their ideas the jump-start by giving shape to their innovation with technical support.
DST and Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2018
DeadlineClosed Eligibility Indian engineering students currently pursuing either undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral degrees from an Indian engineering college are eligible to apply.
Benefits - Top 10 start-ups will receive a seed funding of INR 20 Lacs.
- The semi-finalist teams will be awarded product development funds of INR 5 Lacs.
- Selected semi-finalist teams will get a monthly stipend of INR 30,000.
- Free Texas Instruments Tools worth up to INR 70 Lacs to participants.
- More than 15,000 certificates & more than 600 types of cash awards will be awarded to the participants.

Registration Deadline: 31 August 2018
Qualifying Phase Submission: September 2018
Qualifying Phase Results: November 30, 2018
Shipment of tools to Quarterfinal teams: Dec 2018 – Jan 2019
Quarterfinals Interim Submission: February 2019
Quarterfinals Final Submission: Mar 31, 2019
Quarterfinals Results: April 30, 2019
Semifinals Results: June 30, 2019
Final Event: August 2019
Selection Criteria
The winners will be selected after 5 rounds of selection process mentioned below:
Registration Phase: Teams will register themselves and provide their ideas which a panel of domain experts will judge against two categories: Business Potential & Technical Innovation. The panel will then shortlist the teams for the Phase-2 of the qualifying round.
Qualifying Phase: Teams are required to go through online Business and Technical courses followed by the knowledge assessment. Teams, then, have to submit a detailed Business and Technical proposals on whose evaluation the selected teams will go to the Quarterfinal round.
Quarter Finals: Teams are expected to create a hardware prototype along with submitting project report/a technical paper & video demonstration of their prototype. The submission will then be reviewed by the panel of experts who will shortlist the teams for the Semi-Final round.
Semi Finals: Teams will be invited to the regional event for a demonstration & evaluation of their project.
Finals: The evaluation panel comprising of stalwarts from Startup Ecosystem, Industry Leaders and Domain experts will judge the projects & announce the winners on the basis of Business Potential & Technical Innovation.
Terms and Conditions
- The contest will be held in the English Language throughout & participants are required to be proficient in English.
- The prizes will be awarded to the Team Leaders of qualifying teams and they are obliged to make payment to each team member. The organisers will not be responsible in any way for the division of the prizes among the members of the team.
- The prizes may be subject to tax which is the sole responsibility of the teams.
- In respect of any suits, actions, proceedings, claims or disputes in relation to this contest, the courts situated at Bangalore, India shall enjoy sole jurisdiction.
- The ideas shared needs to be original & should not violate any copyrights, patent or other intellectual property rights.
