About The Program

The DRDO SSPL Delhi Junior Research Fellowship and Research Associateship 2025 is an opportunity offered by the Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), a premier research institute under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Eligible applicants can apply for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Research Associate (RA). Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of up to ₹67,000 plus HRA.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

  • not exceed the age of 28 years
  • hold a first-division B.E./B.Tech degree with NET/GATE qualification, OR
  • hold a first-division postgraduate degree in Physics/Material Science/Electronics/Mechanical/Chemistry/Opto-electronics/Semiconductor processing/Laser Optics/RF Electronics/Semiconductor devices processing/Quantum Technology with NET/GATE qualification, OR
  • hold a first-division M.E./M.Tech degree in any discipline related to Microwave radio frequency/integrated circuits/VLSI/ Engineering/Physics/Solid State Physics/materials, and any other field related to SSPL activities

For Research Associate (RA)

  • not exceed the age of 35 years
  • hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Physics/Material Science/Electronics/Mechanical/Chemistry/Opto-electronics/Semiconductor processing/Laser Optics/RF Electronics/Semiconductor devices processing/Quantum Technology, OR
  • hold a M.E/M.Tech degree with 3-year research experience in the field of semiconductor materials and devices, fabrication, characterisation/simulation/measurement of compound-semiconductor devices/laser optics/RF electronics/semiconductor devices processing and measurement/epitaxial growth of semiconductors/quantum technology from a recognised institution supported by publications in journals
Benefits

The selected students will receive:-

  • Junior Research Fellow: ₹37,000 and HRA, as per DRDO rules.
  • Research Associate: ₹67,000 and HRA, as per DRDO rules.

Note:- The tenure for both positions is 2 years. JRF fellows have the opportunity to receive an upgrade to Senior Research Fellow as per DRDO rules.

Answer:
Candidates with a First Class B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. in relevant disciplines and a valid GATE/NET score are eligible to apply for the Junior Research Fellow post.
