About The Program

DRDO DIHAR Ladakh Internship 2026 is offered by the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), a premier establishment under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), located in Leh, Ladakh. This internship is a valuable opportunity for engineering students to gain hands-on experience in defence-related high-altitude research, trial and testing, and cold-arid-area technologies. Selected students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for a period of 6 months.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be an Indian national
  • be a B.E./B.Tech student currently in the 7th or 8th Semester of their undergraduate engineering programme
  • hold a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or equivalent, maintained continuously across all previous semesters from an AICTE/UGC approved university or institute
  • be below 28 years of age
  • be enrolled in one of the following disciplines: 
    • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, 
    • Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, 
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering, 
    • Computer Science Engineering, 
    • Information Technology Engineering,
    • Civil Engineering

 Note: No equivalent qualification will be considered. 

Benefits

Selected students will receive the following benefits: 

  • Monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for the 6-month internship period (Stipend will be paid in two instalments — after 3 months and after 6 months of completion)
  • Certificate of completion 

Note: Internship may be extended by 8–10 months without stipend for B.E./B. Tech project work.

  • Mark sheets of all previous semesters reflecting CGPA/equivalent marks
  • Aadhaar card
  • Reference/Request letter from college on official letterhead (as per prescribed format), signed by Principal/HOD
  • Brief bio-data (less than 300 words) 
  • Reference/Request letter from the college
  • Bonafide Certificate from college
  • Police verification certificate
  • 3 passport-size colour photographs
  • Aadhaar card and college ID card
  • Bank account details for stipend transfer

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.

Step 3: Download the application form.
Step 4: Fill in the application form completely with all required details.
Step 5: Prepare all the required documents.
Step 6: Scan all required documents and send the complete application via email to ‘hr-dihar@gov.in’ before the deadline. The email subject should read: 'Application for Paid Internship – [Branch/Discipline]'.

Note: No hard copy applications will be accepted. Only online (email) submissions are valid.
