About The Program

The DRDO CAIR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 2026 is offered by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), a premier institute of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), located in Bengaluru. This prestigious fellowship invites young and meritorious Indian nationals to pursue cutting-edge research in the domain of Advanced Operating Systems. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹37,000 along with HRA for an initial tenure of 2 years, with the possibility of extension and upgrade to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) as per DRDO rules.

To be eligible, an applicant must be:

  • have a graduate degree of B.E./B. Tech (1st Division) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an AICTE-accredited institute/university, with a valid CSIR-UGC (NET) or GATE qualification, or
  • have a graduate degree of M.E./M. Tech (1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an AICTE-accredited institute/university
  • be below the age of 28 years

 
Note: Age relaxation of OBC: 3 years up to 31 years, and for SC/ST/PH: 5 years relaxation (up to 33 years).
 

Benefits

Selected students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹37,000 along with the HRA per month.
 

Documents

Documents to carry on the day of the Walk-In Interview:

  • Application form (typed in BLOCK LETTERS) 
  • Passport-size photograph 
  • Academic marksheet
  • Caste certificate ( if applicable)
  • NOC from current employer (if applicable)
  • Valid ID (Aadhaar /Voter ID/ PAN)

 
Note:

  • On the day of the interview, original certificates/testimonials, community certificate will be screened. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to participate in the interview.
  • Electronic items, including smartphones, smartwatches, pen drives, laptops, CDs, and similar devices, are strictly not allowed inside the CAIR campus. 
     
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship by following the steps below:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and enter the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Download the application form.
Step 4: Fill in the Bio-Data form completely in BLOCK LETTERS only, as per the prescribed format attached to the advertisement.
Step 5:  Mention the subject line as: ' Application for JRF as per the Advertisement No: CAIR/HRT/JRF/2026/01'.
Step 6: Send the duly filled application form via email to ‘ad-hrt.cair@gov.in'. 

*On the day of the Walk-In Interview (04th July 2026), report to the
 Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), DRDO
 Complex, C.V. Raman Nagar, Bengaluru – 560093

Note: Pre-registration via email is strongly recommended to reduce registration time on the day of the interview. However, eligible candidates may also walk in directly within the stipulated reporting time. No acknowledgement will be sent for pre-registration. Latecomers will not be permitted to participate.
