About The Program

The Department of Biochemistry, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government Of India invites applications for DBT-Research Associateship Program Fellowship 2018 from Ph.D. (Science)/ Engineering or MD/ MS in medicine students for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

The eligibility criteria for the fellowship is as follows:

  • Ph.D. degree (Science/ Engineering), or MD/ MS (Medicine) with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences
  • A good academic record
  • The Associateship can be availed within 2 years of Ph.D./MD/MS (can be relaxable by 2 years in some cases).
  • Those who have already submitted the thesis can also apply.
  • Must be below 40 years of age (45 in case of women and in-service candidate)
  • Candidates who are working somewhere but interested in Biotechnology can apply through their employers.
How can you apply?

The application can be submitted by following these steps:

Step 1: Write the application on a plain paper in the given format.
Step 2: Propose the place of work, a name of the supervisor, synopsis of the proposed research.
Step 3: The envelope should be marked as DBT-Research Associateship.
Step 4: The completed application must be sent to the following  address:

More Details
Terms and Conditions
  • Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend of INR 22,000 - 24,000/ month and a research contingency grant of INR 50,000/ year, payable to the host institution.
  • Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./MD/MS degree, if selected, will be paid INR 18,000/ month till the award of the degree.
  • The candidates will be selected on the basis of their CV and performance in the interview.
  • The interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and candidates called for interview will be paid II class railway (non-AC)/bus fare by the shortest route from their hometown.
