About The Program

DBT-Research Associateship in Biotechnology and Life Sciences 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India to Ph.D. or M.D./M.S. degree holders. The objective of this programme is to train and nurture young researchers, scientists and generate a critical mass of trained manpower in modern areas of biology and biotechnology and build a robust postdoctoral base for the growth of Biotechnology sectors in the country. The selected candidates will receive variable awards.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian citizen, NRI or OCI card holder
  • be 40 years (for male) and 45 years (for female) of age as of the last date of application
  • hold a Ph.D. degree in Science, Engineering or M.D./M.S. degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record
  • have already submitted the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis 

Note:- The applicants already employed are also eligible to apply. However, they are required to upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer during the online submission of the applications.

How can you apply?

Eligible students can apply by following the steps below:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Click the 'Apply Now' button and read the details carefully.
Step 4: Register on the DBT-RA Online portal, fill in complete information in the registration form and submit it.
Step 5: Click on the 'Online Application Form' then fill in the required details and upload the documents with it.  
Step 6: Click on the 'Submit' button to submit the online application form.

Selection Criteria

The selection of the candidates will be made based on applicants who fulfil the eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
  • Referees must upload a pdf copy of the letter of recommendation on the portal.
  • The applicant shall ensure that the referee provides the recommendation letter on time.
  • Application form which has not been submitted through DBT-RA Online Portal shall not be accepted.
  • Fellows are not allowed to work with their PhD guides/co-guides.
  • The Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years only.
  • However, in exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the fellowship may be extended up to 4 years.
