The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications for DBT-Research Associateship in Biotechnology and Applied Biology(North-East Region) 2018 from Ph.D. (Science)/ Engineering or MD/ MS degree in Medicine of North-East origin/region. The Associateship is to be awarded for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility - Candidate must be domicile of North-East region
- Candidate must be Ph.D. degree holder (Science, Engineering) or MD or MS (Medicine) having a research interest in Biotechnology and life sciences.
- Candidate must have a good academic record.
- Candidates who have already submitted the thesis can also apply.
- Candidate must be below 40 years of age (45 in case of women and in-service candidate).
- Candidates who are working somewhere but interested in Biotechnology can apply through their employers.
How can you apply? The application can be submitted by following these steps:
Step 1: Write the application on a plain paper in the given format.
Step 2: Propose the place of work, a name of the supervisor, synopsis of the proposed research.
Step 3: The envelope should be marked as DBT-Research Associateship.
Step 4: The completed application must be sent to the following address:Coordinator,

Terms and Conditions
Mode of Selection
The candidates will be selected based on their CV and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the Indian Institute Of Science, Bangalore. The candidates will not be paid any TA/DA to attend the interview.
Details of the award
The Research Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associateship may be extended up to 5 years. In both cases, renewal is subject to satisfactory annual academic progress.
Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of INR 36,000 - 40,000 per month and a research contingency grant of INR 50,000 per year, payable to the host institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./M.D./M.S degree, if selected, will be paid INR 28,000 per month till the award of the degree.
The associateship would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associateship. The Associateships cannot be availed at the same institution where the candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D. degree. Candidates who are already in regular employment can avail the Associateship during the period of his/her sabbatical/study leave, in a different institute/university.
