About The Program
DBT-BioCARe Programme 2026 is offered by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The objective of the programme is to enhance the participation of women researchers in their career development in the area of Biotechnology. Selected fellows will receive a consolidated grant along with a monthly stipend of up to ₹75,000.
EligibilityDeadline Date: 23-Sep-2026
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian woman national, up to the age of 55 years,
- be residing in India
- be unemployed as on the closing date of the application
- apply under any one category:
- Category-I (completed Ph.D. in any discipline of Biotechnology/Life Sciences or allied areas/interdisciplinary sciences/MD/MDS/M.V.Sc.)
- Category-II (completed M.Tech. in Biotechnology or in allied areas/M.Pharma/equivalent Degree)
Note:-
- Fellowship is co-terminus with the project duration, up to 3 years.
- Open only to unemployed women researchers/not in regular positions.
- Applicants must be applying for their first extramural research grant.
- Applicants enrolled in higher studies/Ph.D. programmes or receiving any fellowship are not eligible.
- Women who have previously received a Government Funding Agency grant as Principal Investigator are not eligible.
Benefits
Selected fellows will receive a consolidated research grant along with a monthly stipend of ₹75,000 for Category 1 courses and ₹58,000 for Category 2 courses.

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-

- The fellowship is co-terminus with the duration of the project, which will be for up to 3 years.
- Candidates who are registered or enrolled in higher studies/Ph.D and/or receiving any other fellowship are not eligible to apply.
- Research support will be provided only to women researchers for whom this is the first extramural research grant; those who have received any earlier grant from a Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator are not eligible.
