About The Program
The DARA Open Fellowship 2025 is offered by the Danish Advanced Research Academy (DARA) to support outstanding, transformative research projects by PhD students in Denmark. The program is open to students in the natural, medical, and technical sciences, with no thematic restrictions. Selected candidates will receive DKK 15,75,000 salary and other benefits.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be qualified for admission to a Danish PhD program under the 4+4 or 5+3 model
- secure a formal agreement with a principal supervisor (minimum associate professor level) at a Danish university or an eligible institution
- have not previously held a DARA Fellowship or been supervised by someone currently supervising another DARA fellow
- pursue mono/interdisciplinary projects under these fields:
- Bioscience and Biomedicine
- Natural and Technical Sciences
- Data and Computer Sciences
- Biotechnology
Note:- It is the responsibility of applicants to identify and secure a principal supervisor; DARA does not act as a broker in this process.
Benefits
Selected fellows will receive:-
- A PhD salary of DKK 15,75,000 for the entire duration of the appointment
- Project supplement of DKK 7,50,000
- Tuition fee support up to DKK 2,40,000 to cover enrollment
- Access to mentoring, international networking, and exclusive DARA events
Note:- The funding is non-renewable and intended to support the full PhD period in Denmark.

- Applicants must not hold or plan to hold any other fellowship during the PhD period.
- DARA fellows are expected to participate in academic and professional activities hosted by DARA.
- Funding is provided for the PhD period only and is subject to Danish university employment regulations.
