- A panel of judges will select 10 best entries, who will be required to present and defend their essay at a function to be organized on 2nd October 2018 at S. S. Khanna Girls' Degree College, Allahabad.
- The selected participants will have to present their essay for 8 minutes and defend it in the other 7 minutes.
- The panel of judges will decide the final winner and runners-up.

About The Program
Damodarshree National Award for Academic Excellence 2018 is a national level essay writing competition conducted every year for the students who are pursuing an undergraduate, postgraduate or a PhD degree program from a central university or university with more than 75 years of establishment. These institutions may include the affiliated/constituent colleges of such universities, central institutions, national law colleges, IITs, NITs, BITs, IIMs, XLRIs and Central/State medical colleges.

An applicant must -
- Be pursuing an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral degree program from central universities or a university with more than 75 years of establishment or the affiliated/constituent colleges, national law colleges, central institutions, IITs, NITs, BITs, IIMs, XLRIs or Central/State medical college.
Benefits
- The competition winner will be awarded the Damodarshree National Award for Academic Excellence that carries the cash prize of INR 2 Lakh.
- The first runner-up will receive a cash prize of INR 1 Lakh
- The second runner-up will receive a cash prize of INR 50,000.
- The best entry at the undergraduate level will receive a cash prize of INR 30,000.
- A special prize of INR 30,000 will also be awarded at the discretion of the organizers.
How can you apply?
The applications can be made in two ways -
Through the Head of Institutions
The vice-chancellors/directors of all eligible institutions may recommend three entries (including at least 1 recommendation for women candidates), which will be considered without any entry fee.
OR
The principal of all affiliated and constituent colleges of Central University may recommend two entries, which will be considered without any entry fee.
Individually
Step 1: Get a demand draft prepared of INR 100 for the entry fee in favour of "Damodarshree Organizing Committee" payable at Allahabad.
Step 2: Prepare the application as per the proforma.
Step 3: Send the entry fee along with the hard copy of the essay to -

Selection Criteria
Terms and Conditions
- The applicants need to write the essay on topic - "Technology and the Human Mind".
- The essays can be submitted in both English or Hindi languages.
- The essay should be well-formatted in terms of fonts and font size which is Times New Roman (13) or Krutidev (16) on an A4 size paper.
- The word limit of the essay should be between 2000 and 3000 words.
- The organizers will bear the travelling expenses of the selected 10 candidates by AC-2 tier and take care of the hospitality at Allahabad as well.
- All the entries received will be the property of S. S. Khanna Girls' Degree College and can be published in the way it is required.
- The students are not required to write their name, institutional affiliation, address or any other personal information in the body of the essay. This information should be submitted in the prescribed format along with the essay.
- If the applicants are reproducing the matter copied or downloaded from the internet or any other source, its content should not exceed 20% of the text.
- The paper containing original thinking will be given preference.
- The applicants are also required to attach the photocopy of their I-card along with their entries.
