About The Program

Centre for Genomic Regulation, Spain invites applications for CRG International PhD Fellowships Programme 2021 from Masters passed students. A total of up to 13 fully-funded scholarships for international life sciences PhD students are available under this fellowship programme. Selected candidates will receive an annual work contract with a competitive salary that will be renewed annually for a maximum of 4 years (3-year contract for ITNs) following the applicable national regulation; full health and occupational insurance coverage and inclusion in the Spanish Social Security System.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Have not worked at the CRG for more than 3 months before the call deadline
  • Have obtained a University Degree and a Masters's Degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System (minimum 300 ECTS) or an equivalent University Degree that allows the applicant to start a PhD thesis in their home country by October 2021 (Note: Candidates who expect to be awarded a degree by October 2020 are also eligible to apply)
  • Have an excellent academic record, previous research experience and a strong commitment to scientific research
  • Have a high working knowledge of English
  • Not have received an invitation to previous PhD interviews 
  • Not be pursuing Masters at the CRG during the 2020/2021 academic year

Selection Criteria

The selection of the fellows will be based on the candidates' academic qualifications and research excellence.

  • Pre-selection: The pre-selection will be based on the candidate's CV, reference letters and on research interests. Complete applications will be reviewed within a month after the deadline.
  • Oral interviews: Short-listed candidates will receive invitations to visit the CRG for the interviews that will take place 6-9 weeks after the application deadline.
  • Fellowship offers: Offers will be made to the successful candidates shortly after the interview period. Selected students will have two weeks to accept the position and should start their fellowships no later than October 1st, 2020.

  • Once the application is submitted, an acknowledgment of receipt will be automatically sent by e-mail to the applicant.
