About The Program

UK Department for International Development (DFID) invites applications for Commonwealth Scholarship in the United Kingdom 2018 from graduates and postgraduates to study Masters and Doctoral degree programme. The aim of the scholarship is to give the training to make Indians skilled, qualified professionals and academics and to contribute to UK higher education and foreign policy.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

For master's course, an applicant must:

  • Have completed or will complete Bachelor's degree by October 2018.
  • Have obtained 65% or above marks in Science and 60% or above in Social Science.

For Ph.D. degree, an applicant must:

  • Have completed or will complete post graduation by October 2018.
  • Have obtained 60% or above in Social Science and 65% or above marks in Science.

Note: 

  • An applicant must not be greater than 40 years of age as on 7th February 2018.
  • An applicant must not be enrolled for an MPhil leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. at a UK university before the month of September or October 2018.
  • An applicant must not be capable of studying in the UK without this scholarship and will have to sign a declaration for the same.
  • Applicants who have completed at least two years in India as on 7 February 2018, if have been abroad for studies/training/ specialization for more than 6 months will also be eligible.

 

How can you apply?

To apply for the scholarship through Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) portal, follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Click here to register. 
Step 2: Fill in the application form.
Step 3: Write a proposal plan for Study/Research Proposal/Training.
Step 4: Write the future plans and preferred institutions to study at in the UK.
Step 5: Finally submit the completed application form.

  • The scanned copy of the following documents are required while applying:
  • Marks sheet and certificate for Secondary Examination.
  • Marks sheet and certificate for Higher Secondary Examination.
  • Transcript in respect of the candidate’s higher qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree.​

Award details:

For Commonwealth Master's Scholarships 2018:
The selected candidates will get approved airfare, tuition fees, stipend, warm clothing allowance, thesis grant etc.
