About The Program

The Commonwealth Professional Fellowships 2025 are offered by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to mid-career professionals from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. These fellowships are designed to support individuals with leadership potential, enabling them to spend a period with a UK host organisation while engaging in professional development activities in their field. The fellowship covers the full cost of travel, living expenses, and training for the duration of the program.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British protected person
  • be a permanent resident in a Commonwealth eligible country
  • currently employed in a relevant sector
  • have at least five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant work experience
  • not have undertaken a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the last five years
  • be available to start the fellowship in the UK on the prescribed dates
  • provide references and have employer support to undertake the fellowship
Benefits
  • Approved return airfare from the Fellow’s home country to the UK
  • Stipend/living allowance during the fellowship duration

  • Reimbursement of visa fee
  • Stipend (living allowance) payable monthly (or pro rata) for the duration of the award:
    • GBP 2,104 per month, or
    • GBP 2,612 per month for those at organisations in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2024/25 levels).
  • If a Fellow declares a disability, a full assessment of needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC. (See the CSC disability support statement for more information.)
  • Arrival allowance of up to GBP 1,183.20 (rates quoted at 2024/25 levels), including an element for warm clothing.
  • A maximum of GBP 2,000 per fellow can be agreed by host organisations for:
  • Short courses/conferences, and
  • Travel to visit other UK organisations where this forms an integral part of the programme.
  • (Host organisations should bear in mind the restrictions set out in the guidance on claimable costs.)


Note:- Additional allowances are available for support related to disabilities.

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1:

Step 4: Click ‘New User’ and follow the necessary steps to register.
Step 5: Log in with valid credentials and fill out the application form.
Step 6: Upload the necessary documents and submit the application.


Note:- Applications must be made directly to CSC. Ensure to follow specific instructions from the selected host organisation as well.

Terms and Conditions
  • Applicants must return to their home country at the end of the fellowship.
  • No extensions will be granted.
  • The fellowship is for professional development only – not for academic study or qualifications.
