About The Program
What Design Can Do, together with Ikea Foundation, is seeking designs focussed on renewable energy, energy saving and energy efficient approaches for Clean Energy Challenge 2018 from students, creative professionals and start-ups. Designers and creative thinkers from across the globe can submit their ideas around 5 globally influential cities - São Paulo, México City, Delhi, Nairobi and Amsterdam.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
- Students - Students or recent graduates (no longer than 3 years), from universities, art and design schools.
- Professionals - Creative professionals such as independent designers, design studio’s, ad-hoc teams and non-profit organizations, including NGOs with a creative idea.
- Start-ups - Social impact start-ups with a product or prototype and market traction looking to further build, validate and scale their business.
Benefits
- Funding up to EUR 10.000 to develop their idea
- A tailor-made development programme aimed at making the winning ideas investment ready
- Winning projects will be published on What Design Can Do’s platforms, media channels and shared in press releases
- Winning teams stand a chance to present their idea during the WDCD Live event in Amsterdam

Step 7: The candidate will receive a notification from the moderator as soon as the submission has been approved

Q: Is it mandatory to be living in Amsterdam, Nairobi, Delhi, Mexico City or Sao Paulo in order to submit an idea?
A: No, ideas can be submitted from anywhere in the world. If the participant does not live in one of these cities, he/she must be aware of the local situation and have connections with a local partner.
Q: Who will select the winners?
A: An international jury of experts representing all 5 cities city will select and announce the winning projects in March 2019.
