About The Program

The Climate Investigations Training Scholarship 2026 is offered by the Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ). The scholarship is a prestigious training opportunity designed to support experienced journalists who want to upskill in investigative techniques to produce deeper and more impactful climate-focused investigations. Selected candidates will receive full access to the Climate Investigations Course (CIC) worth up to £2,638.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an early-mid career journalist who lives and works in any country in Africa, Latin America, West Asia, or South Asia 
  • be an investigative journalist with at least some experience in working on environmental or climate issues, or have a demonstrable interest in ecological or climate reporting
  • have a good working knowledge of English
  • commit to attending all modules of the Climate Investigations Course (CIC)
Benefits

The selected journalists will receive full access to the Climate Investigations Course (CIC) training online, worth up to £2,638( approx.₹3,31,645.14), including 24.5 hours of hands-on training across 4 modules:

  • Climate Investigation Fundamentals
  • Investigating Climate Finance
  • Data-Driven Climate Investigations
  • ECOSINT: Environmental and Climate Open Source Intelligence
Documents
  • Journalism portfolio 
  • Demonstration of experience or interest in environmental/climate reporting
  • Proof of working knowledge of English

  • The scholarship is currently funded by the Quadrature Climate Foundation (QCF). Recipients must commit to attending all modules of the CIC training programme.
