About The Program

Charles Wallace India Fellowship in Social Anthropology 2018 invites applications from Indian academic or professional social anthropologists or sociologists who would benefit from studying in a British university while contributing to the growth of the institution.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • Indian academic or professional social anthropologists or sociologists are eligible to apply.
  • They must be in their 30s or early 40s to be eligible.

 

Benefits
  • The selected fellow will receive a Fellowship of GBP 5000, out of which GBP 4000 is contributed by the Charles Wallace Trust and GBP 1000 is given by Queen’s University Belfast.
  • The Fellowship covers national and international travel and also a monthly stipend of about £1200.
  • The Fellows also get assistance from the Queen’s University of Belfast in finding residential accommodation. 
  • The University also provides office space and computer facilities.

  • A letter of application stating how the applicant will be spending his/her time at Queen’s University
  • Two samples of published work of the applicant

 

How can you apply?

Application process:

  • To apply for the Fellowship, applicants need to update their curriculum vitae along with a letter of application stating how they would spend the time at Queen’s University. 
  • Applicants must attach not more than two samples of their published work.
  • All the mentioned documents must send to Dr. Maruska Svasek at email: m.svasek@qub.ac.uk

 

Selection Criteria

The fellows for the Fellowship are selected by the School of Anthropology in consultation with the Trustees’ representative in London, who will inform the candidates selected for the Fellowship. 

 

Terms and Conditions
  • The letter issued to the successful candidate by the Trustees’ representative in London can be used by the fellow as official support for visa application. 
  • Preference for the Fellowship will be given to the candidates whose research interests are in the following fields:

Ethnic conflict 
International borders 
Environmental anthropology 
Anthropology of performance 
Anthropology of art 
Human rights 
Emotions and medical anthropology
