About The Program

The CERN Summer Student Programme 2026 is offered by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN). This programme is a prestigious opportunity designed to support outstanding undergraduate and Master's students pursuing studies in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields. Selected participants will receive a CHF 93 per calendar day (tax-free) subsistence allowance, comprehensive health insurance coverage, and travel expenses to Geneva for a 2-month summer programme.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a bachelor's or master's student
  • have completed at least 6 semesters (3 academic years) of full-time university studies in physics, engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field by the start of the summer
  • have good knowledge of English
  • not have worked at CERN for more than 3 months under any other status
  • not have previously participated in the Summer Student Programme at CERN

Note:

  • Students from both CERN Member States and Non-Member States are eligible to apply.
  • Participants must contribute to a technical or scientific project within an experimental, engineering, IT or research team during their time at CERN.
Benefits

Selected students will receive:

  • A subsistence allowance of CHF 93( approx. ₹10,482.51) per calendar day (tax-free) for the duration of the programme
  • Coverage by CERN's comprehensive Health Insurance scheme (contribution already deducted from allowance)
  • Travel expenses to Geneva upon joining CERN, depending on individual circumstances
  • Assistance in finding accommodation on the CERN site or nearby
