About The Program
National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Examination, West Bengal 2025 is an initiative of the Directorate of School Education, West Bengal, for students studying in Class 8. This scholarship program aims to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of society. The selected candidates will receive ₹12,000 per annum.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a domicile of West Bengal
- be a student of Class 8 at a recognised school/institution
- have secured 55% and above marks in Class 7 (Note:- SC, ST, and disabled candidates will receive a 5% relaxation.)
- be studying in a government school/government-aided school/local body and government-sponsored school, including a Madrasah without a residential facility
- have an annual family income of ₹3,50,000 from all sources
Note:- Students from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, state government-run residential schools, and private schools are not eligible for scholarships.

- Certificate from the Head of Institution (HOI) signed with an official seal
- Income certificate of the parent(s)
- For salaried persons employed in government, semi-government and govt. aided organisation/institution, the employer certificate must be obtained for the period from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025
- For other people, the certificate must be obtained from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025 from any competent authority, not below the rank of Jt. B.D.O/executive officer or equivalent (in case of corporation and municipality area)
- Employer certificate of parent(s)
- The first page of the passbook of an Aadhaar-seeded bank account
- Caste certificate issued by the competent authority
- Disability certificate (Note:- Disability of 40% or more must be certified by the competent medical board of the state or central government, if applicable.)
Note:-
- The above documents must be duly authenticated by the concerned School Authority.
- The maximum size of each scanned document must be 200 KB (PDF).
- The image file for the photograph should be in JPG format and the maximum size limit is 50 KB (3.5 x 4.5 cm).

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the ‘New User Register Here’ tab on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
Step 4: Fill in the required details to 'Register'.
Step 5: After successful registration, log in to the account using a valid registration number and password.
Step 6: Fill in the required details in the application, upload the documents, and submit the application.

- The decision of the authority will be final in case of any dispute or doubt.
- Hard copies of the form cannot be submitted to the Directorate of School Education, Bikash Bhavan or the office of the D.I/S(SE) in any district.
- Rejected and unlocked applicants will be given an opportunity to rectify their applications by the date specified in the notification.
- The candidature of an applicant may be cancelled at any stage of the examination process without notice if any incorrect information is found in the application form.
- Application forms with incomplete, irrelevant information, or inappropriate photographs/scanned certificates are subject to summary rejection.
