About The Program

The Department of Operations Management at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applications for PhD Scholarships to be awarded for courses starting in autumn 2019. The research areas for PhD integrate the five disciplines including Supply Chain Management, Management Accounting, Innovation Management, Operations Management and Managerial Economics. The scholarship recipients will receive support for pursuing 3-year PhD course at CBS where they will conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors. The scholarship recipients can benefit from multiple awards including coverage for tuition fee, travel grants and a monthly stipend of up to EUR 3,860.

The scholarships are for students interested in pursuing PhD courses at CBS. To be eligible, candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Candidates should have a basic training at the Master's level
  • Candidates should have an educational background in social sciences (e.g., business administration)
  • Candidates must have completed the Master's degree
  • They must be fluent in English
  • They must be interested in taking up research in one of the following research areas:
    • Research project titled “The Supply Chain of the 21st Century: Towards Ethical, Social and Circular Business Models”, co-financed by CBS and the Nordakademie Foundation, Germany
    • Circular Economy, Maritime Business Issues or any other topic that fulfils the described requirements 

Note: Strong competency and skills in empirical research will be an added advantage for all the applicants.

Selection Criteria
  • Applications will be assessed based on the quality of the proposed project, as well as the skills of the candidate.
  • Only project proposals that clearly fall in the areas of the Department will be considered. 
  • The Recruitment Committee will shortlist at least two to five candidates for final assessment by the Assessment Committee.
  • Each shortlisted candidate will be notified of the outcome of his/her application after the completion of the recruitment process.
Terms and Conditions
  • The PhD scholarship will run for 3 years.
  • There will be teaching obligations equivalent of half year's work (840 hours in total) during the PhD tenure.
  • The scholarship salaries are based on the national Danish collective agreement.
  • The salary level and appointment are determined by the Danish Ministry of Finance's collective agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.
  • The students will be enrolled at the PhD School of Business and Management.
