About The Program

Carnegie Council of Ethics in the US has announced its 10th Annual International Essay Contest on a topic – Is it important to live in a democracy? The applicants are asked to write about the concept of democracy and the importance of living in a democracy in a blog essay form and submit on their blog page in the Global Ethics Network website.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

All students, from high school through graduate students are eligible.

Benefits

 The award prizes are the following:

  • The winner of the first prize will receive an Amazon Gift Certificate worth USD 300
  • The winner of the second prize will receive an Amazon Gift Certificate worth USD 150
  • The winner of the third prize will receive an Amazon Gift Certificate worth USD 75
How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the Essay Contest online through the following steps –

Step 1: Visit the free Global Ethics Network (GEN) website and join the network.
Step 2: The applicants should post their essay in the blog section of the website and tag it with #essaycontest2018.
Step 3: The applicants must mention the following in their essay:

Full Name
Name of the school
Student level- high school, undergraduate and graduate

Selection Criteria

The best essays will be judged based on the three categories: high school, undergraduate and graduate.

Terms and Conditions
  • The essay should be written in the candidate's own words and it should follow op-ed style (academic or footnoted paper will not be accepted).
  • The essay should be in a blog form with a length of about 1000-1500 words.
  • Only a single entry per person is allowed.
  • The applicants must follow the plagiarism guidelines before submission.
  • The essay must be original and properly cited.
