About The Program

Building Bharat Boston BioSciences Program, also referred to as the B4 Program, invites applications from Indian citizens who have a Ph.D. or are at a senior doctoral level in the area of biosciences. The program shall select 8 fellows who will discuss their research with a broader community during an 18-month fellowship at Harvard University, USA. 

During the residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Cambridge area and actively participate in the events and intellectual life at Harvard, while contributing to the greater Harvard community by teaching, mentoring and advising students.

Applicants must meet the below eligibility criteria: 

  • Scholars who have completed their PhD within the last five years from an institution in India in a bioscience-related field.
  • Exceptional senior doctoral students, with demonstrable independence and maturity, may be considered.
  • Applicants must be Indian citizens who are residing in India on Jan 20, 2019.
Benefits

The 8 selected fellows will each receive a stipend of INR 195,000/month for the duration of the fellowship. Health insurance and round-trip economy travel expenses to and from Boston will also be provided.

Documents

All applicants must submit the following documents along with their application:

  • Current curriculum vitae—listing all academic degrees (including disciplines and dates the degrees were received), publications, research presentations, previous grants and/or fellowships, and any additional experience that shows scientific background and productivity.
  • One-page Statement of Interest, describing how your participation will help advance your career.
  • Recent academic transcript(s).
  • Two letters of recommendation.
How can you apply?

Follow the below steps to apply for the program: 

Step 1: Create an XID in order to apply
Step 2: Follow the instructions on the email sent by the XID system for activating your XID
Step 3:  Go to this page 24 hours after activating your XID and log in using your XID
Step 4: Complete and submit the application along with supporting documents 

Important Dates
  • The deadline for applications is 25 September 2018.
  • The fellowship begins on 20 January 2019. 
Selection Criteria

The applications will be scrutinised by an expert panel and the top eight applicants will be selected. The Mittal Institute aims to notify the selected applicants by late October.
