Citizens from all across the world who are 16 years of age and above can apply for this competition.
Benefits
- The first prize winner will receive a cash prize of GBP 5,000.
- The second prize winner will receive a cash prize of GBP 1,000.
- The third prize winner will receive a cash prize of GBP 500.
- 10 highly commended winners will receive GBP 100.
Note: The top thirteen stories will be submitted to the BBC National Short Story Award (GBP 15000) and The Sunday Times EFG Private Bank Short Story Award (GBP 30,000).
How can you apply?
Step 1: Visit the official competition page.
Step 2: Click on "Enter Online" button.
Step 3: Choose the competition being applied for and click on "Submit your short story"
Step 4: Select the number of short story entries to be submitted and click on "Add to Basket".
Step 5: Proceed to "Checkout".
Step 6: Create an account by filling all required details and login to the registered account.
Step 7: Pay the entry fee of GBP 10 for each short story.
Step 8: Upload the short story and submit the entries.
Important documents
Terms and Conditions
- The length of the short story should not exceed 5000 words (not including the title).
- The applicants are required to provide the line count on the top right of the first page (not including the title, dedications and spaces between paragraphs)
- The story must be submitted in the English language only, written in any font with font size 12 pt and font colour black.
- The file type should be Microsoft Word with size not more than 2 MB.
- The file should be saved with the story title in the name.
- The applicants also need to number the pages at the centre/footer bottom of the page.
- There should be single line spacing between the lines and double spacing between the paragraphs.
