About The Program

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands invites applications for the Blogger Scholarship, VU Amsterdam 2019 from Bachelor's degree applicants. The institution offers financial assistance in the form of scholarships to talented and motivated bloggers. The university offers one scholarship worth EUR 2500 for the tuition fee to the selected applicant.

The following applicants are eligible for the scholarship: 

  • Must be applying for a Bachelor's degree 
  • Should be a skilled blogger
Benefits

The selected scholar will receive a scholarship grant of up to EUR 2,500 which is subtracted from the tuition fee of the applicant.

Documents

The following documents are required to be attached along with the application: 

  • Application mentioning the necessary details
  • Motivational essay of oneself between 350-500 words indicating the following: 
    •  Why does the applicant want to be a part of the semester in Amsterdam Blogger?
    • How will the applicant use this experience to further his/her academic, professional, or creative/artistic goals for the future?
    • Any other relevant information about the applicant.
  • 1-3 samples of the applicant's best work, the sample shall not exceed 750 words.
  • Links to Social Media Accounts the applicant wishes to share.
How can you apply?

Follow the steps to apply for the scholarship: 

Step 1: Generate a motivational essay between 350-500 words on oneself indicating the value of the education done through the scholarship and how the applicant will use it in his/her future. 
Step 2: Generate an application with the necessary details including the following: 

  • Full name of the applicant 
  • The nationality of the applicant 
  • Name of the home university 
  • Main focus and area of study

Step 3: Attach the necessary documents along with the application.
Step 4: Submit the application along with the attached documents by sending a mail to semesterinamsterdam@vu.nl.

Terms and Conditions

The following are the requirements expected from the recipient of the scholarship:

  • The blog entry should be at least 500 words long and should include at least 1 picture. 
  • 1 blog entry should be submitted approximately every 2 weeks.
  • At least one blog entry should be written on the following topics each:
    • Pre-departure preparation
    • Arrival and settling-in
    • Cross-cultural adjustment and first impressions
    • Academics at VU Amsterdam
    • Social life in The Netherlands
    • Dutch culture
    • Last weeks in Amsterdam
    • Return home and reflections
