About The Program

Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship (JBNSTS) 2023 is an opportunity offered by the Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS)* to Class 10 or equivalent examination-passed girl students. The objective of this program is to identify, nurture and motivate talented students to achieve their scientific goals and to develop their innovative minds. The selected candidates will receive INR 1,250 per month for 2 years (till completion of Class 12 examination) and other benefits.

*Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), Kolkata is an Autonomous Registered Society under West Bengal Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 (No.S/4353 of 1960-61). The organisation is promoted by the Government of West Bengal and administered by a Governing Body with representatives from the State Government, Academics and Industry.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be a girl student
  • be a domicile of West Bengal
  • have passed Class 10 or equivalent examination
  • have secured 75% marks in aggregate
  • have taken admission in Class 11 in Science stream (with at least 3 subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics and Computer Science) in the year of application

 

Note - The candidates who have passed Class 10 examination before 2023 are not eligible to apply.

Benefits

The selected candidates will receive INR 1,250 per month for 2 years (till completion of Class 12 examination). An annual book grant of INR 2,500 will also be provided along with exposure to seminars and workshops designed for young scholars.

  • Scanned image of signature in jpg/jpeg format [Signature size - within 50 KB]
  • High-resolution recent passport-size photograph in jpg/jpeg format [Photo size -  within 100 KB]
  • Scan copy of marksheet of Class 10 examination in jpeg/pdf format (size - 1 MB)
  • Scan copy of Class 11 Admission Proof in jpeg/pdf format (size - 1 MB) (Note - Fees book/letter from HM/ or principal/identity card/library card can be presented as admission proof)

Eligible candidates can apply for the opportunity by following the below-mentioned steps:

Step 5: Read the details carefully, navigate to 'Apply online for Junior Talent Search Test/Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti 2023' at the bottom of the page and click on it.
Step 6: Fill in the required details, upload the required documents in the prescribed format and submit.

 

Note - The applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 100 (Note - Respective transaction charges are applicable as per Govt. rules)

Selection Criteria

It is a bi-phasic test involving a written test (1st phase) and an interview (final phase). Based on the performance of the written test, shortlisted candidates are selected for interview. After the interview, the list of final candidates will be announced.
