About The Program

Amgen Scholars Program 2019 is inviting applications from undergraduate students worldwide. It is an international program funded by the Amgen Foundation with direction and technical assistance provided by Harvard University. The objective of the program is to provide undergraduate students from different countries who are committed to or who are considering a career in biology or related sciences and looking to continue to graduate studies, with 8 weeks of biomedical research experience in the basic and translational sciences. The selected will receive a stipend and other benefits.

To be eligible, the applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in colleges or universities worldwide that award a Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) and at a minimum, have completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins.
  • Have a good working knowledge of English, demonstrated by a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 72, IELTS overall band score of 5.5, Cambridge English FCE, TOEIC score of 1095, TOEIC L&R score of 785, or TOEIC S&W score of 310.
  • Have an interest in pursuing PhD

Note: Candidates should not be graduating before the summer program begins, and will resume undergraduate studies for at least one semester or one quarter after the summer program ends.

  • For the University of Tokyo - 
    • Stipend worth YEN 180,000
    • Airfare tickets

  • For the Kyoto University-
    • Stipend worth JPY 350,000 for students from Asia
    • Airfare and transportation fee
    • Accommodation
  • For the National University of Singapore-
    • VISA fee
    • Stipend worth SGD 6000 for the 8-month program
    • Travel fare
    • On-campus accommodation
  • For the Tsinghua University, China -
    • Travel and accommodation
    • Stipend worth CNY 15000

How can you apply?

Follow the steps below to apply for the scholarship:
Step 1: Visit the respective University website to apply for the Amgen scholarship:

Step 2: Create a new account.
Step 3: Provide application information, statement of purpose, recommendations and contact details.
Step 4: Upload the required documents.
Step 5: Complete the online application form and click on “submit application”.

Note: Each university has its own guidelines to fill the application form.
