About The Program

AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test) is Indian Airforce exam that has taken after graduation for selection in to Indian Air Force in Flying Branch,Technical Branch or Ground Branch.

 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

Flying Branch (202/17F/SSC/M & W)
Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01st July 2017 (born between 02nd Jul 1993 to 01st Jul 1997) both dates inclusive. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 26 years (born between 02nd Jul 1991 to 01st Jul 1997) both dates inclusive.
Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E/B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
Physical Standards
Height and Weight: Minimum height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight; Leg Length: Min - 99 cms. Max - 120 cms. Thigh Length: Max - 64 cms. Sitting Height: Min - 81.5 Cms. Max - 96 cms
Vision: (a) Minimum Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia
Candidates who have failed the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply.
2) Technical Branch (201/17T/PC/M, 201/17T/SSC/M & W)
Age Limit: 20 to 26 years as on 01st Jul 2017 (born between 02nd Jul 1991 to 01st Jul 1997) both dates inclusive
Educational Qualifications
i. Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies
All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
ii. Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B Exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies
All candidates applying for AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
3) Ground Duty Branches (201/17G/PC/M, 201/17G/SSC/M & W)
Age Limit: 20 to 26 years as on 01st Jul 2017 i.e. born between 02nd Jul 1991 to 01st Jul 1997 (both dates inclusive)
Educational Qualifications
i. Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a Post Graduate Degree/equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together
ii. Accounts: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) (Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com) /CA/ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together
iii. Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together
Physical Standards
i) Height and Weight: Minimum height - Men & Female 157.5 Cms with correlated weight
ii) All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final
Type of Commission
Permanent Commission: Candidates joins as Permanente Commission (PC) officers would continue to serve fit the age of superannuation
i) Short Service Commission: The Engagement period for SSC Flying Branch is 14 years from the date of Commissioning (Not extendable)
ii) The initial tenure for Short Service Commission officers in Technical and Ground Duty Branches would be for a period of ten years.

Candidates are advised to read the notification for AFCAT 02/2016 and the detailed guidelines for filling up online application as given in the website www.careerairforce.nic.in prior to commencement of filling up online applications
While filling online application, it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available, as details are to be filled as per matriculation and other educational certificates.
Please save your recent colour passport size photograph (size 10 to 250 kb) in the computer for attaching to your online application form.
Please note that utmost care needs to be taken while filing up the online application. In case any information is found to be incorrect then the candidates is likely to be cancelled at any stage of the selection process.
Details of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) Centres are appended below and would be allocated as per availability of seats. AFCAT centre once allotted would not be changed under any circumstances.
Candidates can apply online through the IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in from 04th June 2016 to 30th June 2016.

Terms and Conditions

All applicants whose application have been submitted by due date will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to be conducted on 28th August 2016 (Sunday) at one of the examination centres mentioned below.
Candidates will be required to login to their account regularly for information on AFCAT and AFSB testing. The entrance test will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question paper and syllabus of AFCAT is available on IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in. EKT would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT.
Candidates who are short-listed on the basis of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) will be called for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Board (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi or Kancharapara.
The testing would consist of three stages as given below:
(a) Stage-I: Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing; all State-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for
(b) State-II: Testing consisting of Psychological test, Group Test and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Five Days)
(c) For Flying Branch: CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) and Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) would be administered to eligible candidates.
