About The Program

The Ministry of Education, Singapore invites applications for A-STAR India Youth Scholarship 2020 from students who have passed their class 8 in 2019 and are willing to study in selected Singapore schools at the Secondary 3 level in 2020. 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

An applicant must -

  • Be a national of India
  • Be born between 2003 and 2005
  • Have passed class 8 in 2019
  • Have scored at least an average of 80% or minimum 'A' with English as the first language in class 7 and 8 final examinations
  • Possess a high level of competency in the English Language (both oral and written). 
Benefits

The scholarship covers -

  • Annual allowance with hostel accommodation 
  • Settling-in allowance
  • Return economy class air passage
  • Coverage of GCE-O Level and A-Level examination fees (only once, if applicable)
  • Subsidized medical benefits and accident insurance cover

 

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship online through following steps-

Step 1: Visit the online application system
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button.
Step 3: Select the scholarship for which applying and continue. 
Step 4: Fill in all required details and register. 
Step 5: Log in using the registered email id and password to complete the application process. 
Step 6: Finally submit the application form. 

Important Dates

 

  • Application Period - 24 June 2019 to 28 July 2019
  • Selection Test - September 2019
  • Interview - October 2019
  • Award of Scholarship - Early November 2019
  • The arrival of Scholar in Singapore - Early December 

Note: The dates for tests, interviews, and other activities are tentative, which are subject to change.

Selection Criteria

The selection of the scholars will be based on -

  • Selection test 
  • Interview
Terms and Conditions
  • The selection test and interview will be conducted in Delhi. 
  • The students who have been shortlisted for the selection test/interview will be notified at least 1 week in advance. 
  • The scholarship is tenable for 4 years that will lead to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE 'A'-level) or equivalent certificate.
