About The Program

The 4th CIPR National Essay Writing Competition 2018 is open for LL.B. and LL.M. students. Organised by the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) and the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), this competition seeks essays on the topic “Intellectual Property Responses to New Frontier Technologies: Challenges and Solutions”. Winners of the contest will be eligible to receive an award of up to INR 10,000.

The competition is open to LL.B. and LL.M. students studying in any of the recognized Law Schools/ Colleges/ Departments of the Universities. The participants need to write an essay on the topic “Intellectual Property Responses to New Frontier Technologies: Challenges and Solutions”.

Benefits
  • The first prize will be INR 10,000.
  • The second prize will be INR 5000.
  • The third prize will be INR 3000.

  • Abstract of the essay (not exceeding 300 words)
  • Cover letter mentioning all the necessary details
  • Duly filled declaration form
How can you apply?

Follow the below steps to apply-

Step 1: The submission of the essays need to be made in electronic form through Email.
Step 2: Fill in the declaration form.
Step 3: Write a cover letter that includes Name, Address, Email, Contact details, Name of the College/University and address and class of the participant (write details for both the authors in case of co-authorship).
Step 4: Write an abstract for the essay (not more than 300 words).
Step 5: Finally, send the essay along with the abstract, duly-filed declaration form and the cover letter to cipr@nuals.ac.in.

Terms and Conditions
  • The essay should be written in English and must not exceed 3000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • A participant can submit only a single essay as multiple submissions will lead to disqualification.
  • A maximum of two authors can write an essay through co-authorship.
  • The essays should not be submitted in any other contest.
  • Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  • The essays should in no way reveal the identity of the author.
  • The final decision of selection will rest with the panel and CIPR.

Essay guidelines:

  • All submissions must follow the Bluebook system of citation 19th edition.
  • The submissions are to be made in Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line spacing: 1.5, Footnote size: 10.
  • Submissions may be made in .doc/.docx/.odt formats only.
