British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

The British Academy is offering this opportunity.

 
Early-career researchers in the humanities or social sciences who completed (or expect to complete) their Viva Voce examination between 1 April 2024 and 1 April 2027, and who meet the Academy's nationality/association and postdoctoral-status criteria, can apply.

Selected Fellows receive a three-year, fully funded postdoctoral fellowship at a UK host institution, with 80% of eligible costs covered by the British Academy and research expenses of up to £6,000 over the award.

The deadline for submissions and UK institutional approval is 30 September 2026 (17:00 BST).

Applicants who previously failed to reach the Second Stage cannot reapply, unless specifically invited to do so by the British Academy.
