DRDO-CVRDE Chennai ITI Apprenticeship 2024 is an opportunity offered by the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO),  to Indian citizens having an ITI certificate from the NCVT Board. This apprenticeship programme offers aspiring applicants the chance to gain valuable training and hands-on experience in their chosen fields. Openings are available for apprentice roles in carpentry, motor vehicle mechanics, mechanical drafting, computer operations & programming, electrical work, fitting, machining, tuning and welding.  monthly stipend of up to ₹8,050 along with specialised training will be provided to the selected apprentices.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • be aged between 18 - 27 years
    • have graduated from the ITI duly recognised by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), following the Gazette Notification of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the years 2021, 2022, or 2023
    • be registered on the NCVT Management Information System (MIS) portal
    • have completed the qualifying examination as a regular candidate
    • not have more than one year of work experience
    • not be currently enrolled in an apprenticeship programme under any organisation or previously completed an apprenticeship programme
    • not have a diploma/graduate qualification in any discipline

     

    Note:-

    • Candidates who are applying for trades other than Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) and Welder must have passed out from the Notification of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, with a minimum of two years duration.
    • The age limit for Scheduled Cast/Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Class (OBC), and Person with Disability (PWD) applicants is relaxed by 30, 32, and 37 years respectively.
    • Applicants with pending qualifying exam results will not be considered for this training program. However, upon selection, provisional certificates from the qualifying exam will be accepted for joining. Final NCVT certificates must be submitted as soon as they become available.
    Benefits

    The selected candidates will receive a stipend as follows:-

    • COPA, Welder and Carpenters: ₹7,700 per month
    • For every other trade: ₹8,050 per month

    The fellowship will provide training in respective fields to candidates for a duration of one year.

    Note:- 

    • No other allowances will be paid during the entire period of apprenticeship training.
    • No quarters or hostel accommodations will be provided for the duration of their training.

    Note:-

    • All documents must be uploaded in either PDF, JPG or JPEG format. The file size should be less than 500KB.
    • A copy of Class 10 & 12 marksheets and certificates, ITI marksheets, NCVT certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), Aadhaar card, PAN card, and a printout of the application form are required to be submitted at the time of interview/document verification.
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the opportunity by following the steps mentioned below:-
    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
    Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.)
    Step 3: Select the ‘Register’ option and enter the necessary details.
    Step 4: Click the ‘Register’ button to receive OTP on the mobile number and email.  
    Step 5: Enter the OTP and click on the ‘Verify’ button.
    Step 6:  After successful registration, login using valid credentials.
    Step 7: Scroll down to ‘JRF/Apprentice Trainee’ and click on ‘Apply’.
    Step 8: Click on the apprenticeship type dropdown, and select ‘ITI Apprentice Trainees’.
    Step 9: Click on the subject selection dropdown and select the appropriate subject/trade.
    Step 10: Fill in the required information against every field, upload the necessary documents along with the signature and click ‘Submit’.

Note:- The online registration period will be closed 21 days after the publication date of this advertisement.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on their scores from the qualification exam (ITI), followed by a screening test/interview or both, which will be conducted at CVRDE, Chennai.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed about the details of the interview via email and SMS. Candidates are advised to regularly check the exact date and time of their screening test/interview.

Terms and Conditions
  • Submission of applications will only be accepted through online mode.
  • Only one application per candidate will be accepted.
  • Incomplete applications, wrong application formats, applications with incorrect information or applications lacking essential information/documents will be immediately rejected.
  • Applicants must provide their percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. They are required to convert their CGPA to a percentage following their university's conversion policy, if applicable. This information will be verified during document verification.
  • Candidates must bring a signed printout of their application along with the originals of the papers they provided online at the time of the interview/document verification at CVRDE, Chennai.
  • Candidates will need to present a valid police verification certificate issued for their permanent address or their place of last residence, where they resided for at least the preceding year at the time of hiring.
  • The duration of the program will be strictly governed by the Apprentices Act, 196, the Apprenticeship Rules.
