In order to live comfortably within our limited resources, my family has always maintained a positive mindset towards every life situation and challenge that has come our way. My father is a farmer and the only earning member in our family of 6 (including my parents, grandparents, younger sister, and me). With his menial income of Rs. 50,000 a year, he has somehow managed to provide for the family while simultaneously bearing the educational expenses of me and my sister (currently in Class 10). 

However, after passing Class 12 with almost 70% marks, I realised the need for financial assistance from an external source. While I managed to get admission in Government Engineering College Haveri where the annual fee is reasonably low, it was still difficult for my father to manage my college expenses which also included books and travel. In spite of the monetary challenges, I managed to score a 7.5 CGPA score in B.Tech 1st year. It was during this time that I got to know about ‘Rolls Royce Unnati Scholarships for Women Engineering Students’ through my college HOD. Since I was perfectly eligible for the scholarship, I spared no time in applying for it. To my delight, the application process was easy, and I was ultimately selected for the scholarship worth Rs. 35,000! 

With the help of this scholarship money, I was able to fund my college 2nd year fee and other expenses entirely on my own. Not only this, I am now also able to concentrate on my studies with more focus. If I wouldn’t have received this financial aid, I would have had to take up a loan, which would have been an additional burden on me and my family. I am deeply thankful to Rolls Royce for helping me in times of need.
