Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea of United Nations is inviting applications for The Nippon Foundation Critical Needs Fellowship 2019 from key government officials of developing countries who are between 25 and 40 years of age. The specific purpose of this fellowship is to enable vulnerable states to address their ocean affairs strategically. Selected fellows will be able to attend a four-month training programme at the division for ocean affairs and law of the sea in New York. They will also receive other added benefits in this fellowship.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be in the age range of 25 and 40 years
- Have completed a first university degree
- Be a government official from developing countries
- Be a key person in dealing with critical issues of oceans and seas in their concerned states
- Be free from any non-fellowship obligation during the fellowship period unless authorized by DOALOS
Benefits - Four months of training at DOALOS

How can you apply? Follow the steps below to apply for the Fellowship:
Step 1: Visit the official fellowship notification.
Step 2: Download the 'Personal History and Proposed Research/Study Programme' form and the 'Nomination and Recommendation' form.
Step 3: Fill up all the required details in the application form and get the recommendation form filled by the nominating entity.
Step 4: Send both the filled applications either through email on DOALOS@un.org.

- Nomination and Recommendation Form must be signed by the official nominating entity.
- Awards would be only given after the verification of necessary visa, medical clearance and other criteria.
- Fellows will have to secure their accommodations on their own.
