The International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) invites applications from Undergraduate, Masters and PhD applicants for its Taiwan ICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program 2020. It provides scholarships for higher education in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan. The selected scholar receives a monthly allowance of up to TWD 17,000 along with other benefits.

    Eligibility

    The following applicants are eligible for the scholarship: 

    • Undergraduate, Masters and PhD applicants
    • Applicants must satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which they have applied
    • Applicants satisfying the specific Visa requirements
    • Applicants not applying for a further Taiwan ICDF scholarship in unbroken succession
    • Applicants must also meet the regulations governing visiting, resident and permanent residency of aliens set by ROC (Taiwan) National Immigration Agency
    Benefits

    The selected scholars will receive the following benefits: 

    • Economy class return tickets for the most-direct flights to and from Taiwan
    • Residence in student dormitories (Mandatory)
    • Full tuition fees waiver
    • Credit fees, which may vary with the number of credits registered
    • Insurance fee for the entire duration of a student’s program
    • The costs of textbooks purchased as required by instructors 
    • A fixed allowance provided to the students in the following way: 
      • An allowance of TWD 12,000 per month to each scholar pursuing an undergraduate degree as an allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses
      • An allowance of TWD 15,000 per month to each scholar pursuing a masters program as an allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses
      • An allowance of TWD 17,000 per month to each scholar pursuing a PhD program as an allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses
    Documents

    The following documents are required to be attached along with the application: 

    • Photocopy of passport or other document showing proof of nationality
    • Photocopy of the highest-level diploma and academic transcripts
    • Photocopy of English proficiency certificate
    • Two letters of reference
    • Any other documents specifically requested by a ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Consulate General/Representative Office

     Note: English proficiency certificate means a TOEFL test score or that of another recognized English proficiency exam, or documents certifying that the applicant has graduated from a program where all courses were taught in English.

    Step 5: Submit the application form.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on accounting for the eligibility requirements and selection criteria of the TaiwanICDF.

Terms and Conditions
  • The applicant should agree to return to his/her home country after the completion of the program.
  • The applicant should agree to learn basic Mandarin and embrace Taiwanese culture during his/her stay in
    Taiwan.
  • The matters not included in these terms will be handled in accordance with provisions related to TaiwanICDF scholarship affairs.
  • The applicant will be responsible for all expenses that exceed the amounts and terms stated in the scope of the  Scholarship. 
  • The applicant should abide by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). 
  • The applicant will have to repay airfare and living allowances should he/she decide to drop out of the program without gaining the prior consent of the Taiwan ICDF or without providing proof of exceptional circumstances, the Taiwan ICDF’s decision in this matter will be final.
  • Applicants who are unable to provide proof of English proficiency due to special circumstances may be assessed for English proficiency by an ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Consulate General/Representative Office via interview or other forms of testing.
