Queen's University Belfast GREAT Scholarships 2024 is an opportunity offered by Queen's University Belfast in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, for students from India who aspire to pursue postgraduate courses in Law at the university. A minimum award of £10,000 for a year of study will be awarded to two selected students.

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:- 

    • be a citizen or permanent resident of India
    • be available to start their academic studies at Queen’s by the start of the academic year in September 2024
    • meet the eligibility criteria of one of the following programmes:
      • LLM Criminology and Criminal Justice
      • LLM International Commercial and Business Law
      • LLM International Human Rights Law
      • LLM Law
      • LLM Law and Technology
      • LLM Intellectual Property Law
    • have applied for and been offered a full-time place at Queen’s on your selected programme
    • not have been awarded a full or partial scholarship, studentship, or other government award to complete their studies
    Benefits

    A total of 2 selected scholars will receive £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year master’s programme.

    • A personal statement of less than 500 words explaining why the applicants are applying for a GREAT scholarship for an LLM programme at Queen’s University Belfast and how it will support their future career
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the steps mentioned below:-

    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below. 
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
    Step 3: Navigate to the 'How to Apply' section.
    Step 4: Click on the 'Apply for GREAT Scholarship  Law and Justice, Queen’s University Belfast'.
    Step 5: Fill the application form with relevant details and submit it.

    Note:-

    • Candidates must have an offer of a place to study an LLM Programme at Queen’s University Belfast for 2024 entry before completing the application form for the scholarship.
    • Applicants should apply for admission at least 4 weeks in advance of this date to allow sufficient time for a decision to be processed.

The selection of the candidates will be made based on academic merit, fulfilment of the eligibility criteria and the personal statement.

  • UK HEIs should award the scholarships by 30th June 2023.
  • The Study UK team must be informed of any other scholarships awarded to a GREAT scholar in the same academic year.
  • Scholars must:
    • be willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar through personal and academic fulfilment. 
    • be willing to attend events or participate in other activities organised by Study UK and the British Council for all UK-based GREAT scholars, including social media activities to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.
    • be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships by sharing experiences of studying in the UK with future GREAT scholars
    • act as an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, and be willing, occasionally, to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK
