About The Program
The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) initiated the Professor Jai Krishna and Professor S. N. Mitra Memorial Awards 2025, in honour of its founder, President Prof. Jai Krishna, Civil Engineering, and its first Honorary Secretary Prof. S. N. Mitra, Computer & Electronics Engineering. There are two awards conferred each year across multiple engineering disciplines:
- Prof. Jai Krishna Memorial Award for civil, mechanical, chemical, aerospace, and materials/mining engineering.
- Prof. S. N. Mitra Memorial Award for computer/IT, electrical, electronics & communications, energy, and interdisciplinary/leadership in academia or R&D.
Each recipient receives ₹2 lakh in cash and a citation, and is invited to give an inspirational talk at the INAE Annual Convention.

To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be an Indian citizen and an existing INAE Fellow
- be an eminent Engineer, Engineer Scientist, or Technologist of high achievement and standing
- have made contributions of a high order to Indian Engineering and Technology, and acquired a high level of eminence and respect in the engineering community
- not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award

Terms and Conditions
- The nominations can only be proposed by INAE Fellows.
- The awardees will be requested to deliver an inspirational talk on their exciting engineering experiences at the Academy Annual Convention.
- Nominations of engineers, engineer-scientists, and technologists will be invited from the INAE Fellowship in the fields of Engineering, Technology, and Technical Education Management.
- The nominee should not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award.
- The nomination is valid for the present year and subsequent 2 years. All three years will be listed in the record shown on the view page.
