Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (Class 9 & 10), Assam 2023-24 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India to provide financial assistance to SC students of the state who are studying in Class 9 and 10.
Under this scheme, SC students of Assam will be offered financial support for studies to reduce the incidences of drop-outs during the transition from elementary to secondary stage. The selected candidates will receive a consolidated academic allowance of up to ₹7,000 per annum.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must:-
- be domiciled in Assam
- belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category of the state
- be a regular full-time student of Class 9 and 10 in government/private schools that have been duly recognised by the concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration/Central Board having a valid UDISE code
- have an annual income of parent(s)/guardian(s) of not more than ₹2,50,000
Note:- In case, a student is granted two scholarships simultaneously, they may have the choice to select either of these and their preference should be formally communicated to the awarding authorities through the Head of their Institutions.
Benefits The selected scholars will receive a consolidated allowance as follow:
- Day scholar: ₹3,500 per annum
- Hosteller: ₹7,000 per annum
In addition, a 10% extra allowance wil be given to Divyang (Disabled) students.
Note:- The disability will be considered as defined under the relevant Section of Right of the persons with Disability Act, 2016. The appropriate Government shall designate persons, having requisite qualifications and experience, as certifying authorities, who shall be competent to issue the certificate of disability.
Documents - A passport-size photograph of the student
- Self-attested copies of certificates, diplomas, degree, etc.
- A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
- An annual income declaration certificate of the parent(s)/guardian(s)
- A certificate from the District Social Welfare officer/identified officer of a local body/civic agency/any such authority as designated by the State Government.
How can you apply? Eligible students can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to 'Applicant Corner' and click on the 'New Registration' tab.
Step 4: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox and click on the 'Continue' button.
Step 5: Select the respective Aadhaar option, enter mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit.
Step 6: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the registration process.
Step 7: Now click on the 'Fresh Application' tab and log in using the application ID and password.
Step 8: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit the application.Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill in only one application as multiple applications will cancel the form.

The scholarship will be provided to all the candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship will be given for only one year. A student will not receive a scholarship for repeating a class.
- In an academic year, the scholarship will be payable for 10 months.
- A student getting a scholarship in Class 9 will be able to renew it for Class 10 subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance.
- The income certificate will be taken only once which will be at the time of admission to the course.
- The Government of India at its own discretion can change the provisions of this scheme at any time.
- The candidates living in any state other than the state of domicile will be awarded a scholarship by the state they belong to.
For Scholarship Renewal:-
- The authentication through Aadhaar would be compulsory at the time of renewals, if not provided earlier at the time of admission.
- The scholarship granted under the scheme will be renewed during the period of the first-year postgraduate course subject to good conduct and maintenance of 75% attendance.
- The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study on receipt of an annual progress report to be granted by the Administrative Head of the University/Institution/College.
- If a student fails to appear for the annual exam due to illness, their scholarship can still be renewed. They are just required to provide a medical certificate from the approved authority, and the institution/awarding body needs to accept it.
- Even if a student gets promoted but doesn't pass the previous year's exams, they can still receive the scholarship for their new class, as long as they meet the other scholarship requirements and their university/institute allows this exception.
- If a student fails and repeats a class, their scholarship will continue for one additional year or the duration of the repeated class, whichever is less.
