Post Matric Scholarship to Lower Income Group Students, Haryana 2023-24 is an opportunity offered by the Directorate of Higher Education, Haryana to the students of Haryana studying at the post-matriculation level. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to students belonging to lower-income groups to enable them to complete their education. The selected students will receive maintenance charges, fees & expenses on approved study loans and other benefits.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must - 

    • be an Indian national
    • have passed matriculation or any other equivalent examination or any higher examination from a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education
    • have an annual income of less than INR 12,000 or
      • more than INR 12,000 but not exceeding INR 2,000 per annum, except in the case of technical degree courses (e.g., Medical, Engineering, Agricultural and Veterinary courses) where the limit will be INR 2,400 per annum

     

    Note: 

    • The scholarship will be given for the study of all recognised post-matriculation courses at the following institutions -
      • National Fire Service College, Nagpur
      • Air Craft Maintenance Engineer's course
      • Training Ship Dufferin courses of training at the Military College, Dehradun
      • Pre-examination training course at the Pre-examination training centre at Allahabad and Bangalore preparing students for I.A.D., etc., examinations
    • Students pursuing post-graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their courses.
    • Candidates who, after having completed their educational career in one Professional line continue professional studies in a different line. e.g. L.L.B after B.T./B.Ed. will not be eligible.
    • Candidates who after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in a different subject, e.g. I Sc. Jr. after I.A. Jr. or B.Com. after B.A. or M.A. in one subject after M.A. in another subject will not be eligible.
    • Candidates who wish to pursue their studies through correspondence courses will not be eligible.
    Benefits

    The scholarships include maintenance charges, fees and expenses on approved study loans and typing/printing of the thesis. The details are given below -

    • Fees - Scholars will be paid enrolments/ registration, tuition, games, union, library, magazine, medical, examination and such other fees compulsorily payable by the scholar to the Institution or University/Board refundable deposits like caution money, and security deposit will, however, be excluded.
    • Study Tours - Study tour charges up to a maximum of INR 100 per year limited to the actual expenditure incurred by the students on train/bus fares, tanga charges, etc. will be paid to the scholars studying the professional course, provided that the Head of the Institution certifies that study tour is essential for the scholars for the completion of the course of study.
    • Thesis Typing/Printing Charges - Thesis typing/printing charges up to a maximum of INR 100 will also be paid to the research scholar on the recommendation of the Head of the Institution.

    Scholars, who are entitled to free board and free lodging will be paid maintenance charges at the following rates - 

    Free board and lodging 1/3rd at hosteller's rates
    Free board 1/3rd at hosteller's rates plus INR 5 per month
    Free lodging Full at hosteller's rates minus INR 5 per month

    • Income certificate (Note - In case of employed parents, a gross annual income certificate from the employer along with parents' affidavit of income from all other sources will be required)
    How can you apply?

    Eligible applicants can apply for the opportunity by following the below-mentioned steps - 
    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
    Step 3: Navigate to 'Student Registration' at the top of the dashboard and click on it.
    Step 4: Enter the Parivar Pehchaan Patra (Family Id), a list of members will be displayed, select the name of the applicant, and click on the 'Generate OTP' button.
    Step 5: Enter the OTP received on the registered Mobile No. and Click on the 'Verify OTP' button.
    Step 6: After OTP Verification, all the details get auto-filled in the Registration Form, and cross-check the information.
    Step 7: Select the Department and College, create a password and click on the 'Register' button.
    Step 8: Click the login link at the portal and enter valid credentials to apply for the scholarship.
    Step 9: Provide all necessary details like course, roll no., eligibility etc.
    Step 10: Click on the 'Apply' button to save and submit the application.

Selection Criteria

The scholarships for lower income group students will be awarded based on the total annual income from all sources of the parents/guardians of the applicant and not on based on caste.

  • Candidates who after failing or passing Pre University/Intermediate/B.A./ B.Sc. examination join any post-matriculation diploma/certificate course recognised by the University/Government in any professional course will be awarded scholarships, if otherwise eligible.
  • No subsequent failure will be condoned and no further change in the course will be allowed.
  • Candidates who wish to pursue their studies through correspondence courses will not be eligible.
  • Students who receive this scholarship will not be eligible for any other forms of financial aid or rewards. If they are granted a higher-value scholarship from another source, they can choose the scholarship that benefits them the most. They need to inform the scholarship provider through their school's head about their decision.
  • No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date the candidates will accept another scholarship/stipend/remuneration.
