About The Program

PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students, 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, for students pursuing studies beyond Class 12. The scheme aims to recognise and promote quality education among Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) and Denotified Tribes (DNT) students by providing financial support. The selected students will receive full tuition fees and non-refundable charges, monthly living expenses of ₹3,000 and other benefits.

To be eligible, a candidate must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • belong to the Other Backward Class (OBC)/Economically Backward Class (EBC)/De-notified Tribes (DNT) category
  • have secured admission in a full-time prescribed course in any of the notified institutions according to the general selection criteria prescribed by the concerned institution
  • have an annual parent(s)/guardian income not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Benefits

The selected students will receive the following benefits:- 

  • Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges (Note:- There will be full tuition fee reimbursement up to a ceiling of ₹2,00,000 per annum for public sector institutions and ₹3,72,000 per annum for the private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses) 
  • Living expenses: ₹3,000 per month
  • Books and stationery: ₹5,000 per annum
  • Computer/laptop with accessories like UPS and printer, limited to ₹45,000 as one-time assistance during the course.
Documents
  • Academic transcripts such as certificates, diplomas, marksheets, etc.
  • Family income certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • A scanned copy of the first page of the bank passbook of the student
  • Admission proof such as fee receipt, admission letter, etc
  • Fee structure document
  • Affidavit certifying that the candidate is not the third sibling of the family who is availing benefits
How can you apply?

Eligible students can apply by following the steps below:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form.  Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

Selection Criteria

The institution will select eligible OBC/EBC/DNT students based on merit as per the entrance examination merit list. 

Note:-

  • As the fund is majorly earmarked for OBC, preference would be given to the OBC students while considering under the scheme.
  • If the institution finds that the number of eligible candidates in the first year is less than the number of slots allotted to it, then the remaining slots may be offered to eligible students studying in the second, third and fourth years based on their previous year's inter-se merit. Priority will be given to those who have more number of years left to complete their respective course. For instance, 2nd-year students will be given preference over 3rd-year students and so on.
  • Refer to the criteria of the merit list for the Institutions as per the entrance exam in 'Scholarship Guidelines' under Annexure 1.

  • The benefit of the scheme will not be provided to more than 2 siblings in a family.
  • The scholarship will be terminated if the student fails to get promoted to the next semester/class.
  • Reservation and Preferences:
    • Thirty per cent (30%) of slots are reserved for eligible girl students based on inter-se merit.
    • If insufficient girl students, slots may be transferred to eligible boys based on merit.
    • 30% slots as mentioned above will not include those girl students who are selected on the basis of their performance in the overall merit list of OBC/EBC/DNT students, as applicable, of the institution.
  • Payment Process:

    • The scholarship becomes payable immediately after a student secures admission and starts attending classes.
    • Tuition fees and non-refundable charges are directly transferred to the institution through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode by the Central Government.
    • Living expenses, books & stationery, and computer/laptop with accessories are also directly transferred to the student through DBT.
  • Renewal of Scholarships:
    • For renewal, the institution's verification implies that the student has been promoted to the next class and has been admitted.
    • Students should purchase a computer/laptop in the first year, and the bill for the same is submitted for subsequent year scholarship applications.
  • Any institution violating the provisions of the scheme and/or instructions issued by the Government of India will be de-notified. In the event of de-notification/deletion of any institution, the scholarship will continue to be available to the students already admitted under the scheme, if otherwise eligible, till the completion of the course. However, no fresh seats will be allotted and funds released to such de-notified institutions.
