About The Program

NSP Financial Assistance for Education of the Wards of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM Workers - Post-Matric 2024-25 is an opportunity provided by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to financial help to students from Class 11 to postgraduation level continue their education at any government institution or university. These students must be children of workers in the Beedi, Cine, Iron Ore Mines, Manganese Ore & Chrome Ore Mines, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, or Mica Mines sectors. The main aim of this scheme is to prevent children from working in hazardous industries. Selected candidates will receive financial assistance up to ₹25,000 per annum.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national 
  • be enrolled in a regular course of General or Technical education (including Medical, Engineering, and Agricultural studies) at a government-recognised institution 
  • be a child of a Beedi, Iron Ore, Manganese, Chrome Ore, Limestone, or Dolomite Mines worker, or a Cine worker with at least six months of service.
  • have passed the last qualifying examination on the first attempt
  • have an annual family income that does not exceed:-
    • ₹1,20,000 per annum for supervisory and managerial employees and Beedi workers
    • ₹96,000 per annum for Cine workers

The following students are ineligible for the scholarship:-

  • Students who change their major (e.g., B.Sc. after B.Com., B.Com. after B.A., or M.A. in one subject after an M.A. in another) are not eligible.
  • Students who change their professional line of education (e.g., L.L.B. after B.T. or B.Ed.) are also not eligible.
Benefits

The selected students will receive the scholarship in the following manner:-

Polytechnic 6,000
Degree courses (including B.Sc. Agriculture) 6,000
Professional Courses 25,000

Note:- Students promoted to the next class are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Documents
  • A passport-size photograph of the applicants
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of the identity card of the parents (Note:- Form B register number will be required in case of Mineworkers.)
  • Copy of front page of bank passbook or cancelled cheque (should contain details of the account holder/beneficiary)
  • Academic transcripts, including marksheets and certificates of the previous qualifying examination 
  • Income certificate of the parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by the Revenue Authority (RA)
How can you apply?

Eligible students can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form.  Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

Selection Criteria

The candidate will be selected based on the marks percentage obtained by the candidates in the qualifying exam and the parent’s/guardian’s annual income.

  • Students who are receiving scholarships or stipends from any other source are ineligible to receive benefits under this scheme.
  • Scholars must have a separate bank account. In the case of a joint account, the first name should be of the scholar.
  • Candidates must have a working phone number.
  • More than one child of the same worker must provide a separate bank account number.
  • Each scholar is required to provide a separate mobile number.
  • The scholarship sanctioned is liable to be cancelled on the following occasions - 
    • If the scholar is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements.
    • If the scholar discontinues studies, the scholarship shall be stopped from the date of such discontinuance.
    • If the scholar changes the subject of the course of study for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of Study without the prior approval of the Welfare Commissioner.
    • If the scholar fails to make satisfactory progress in the studies/is irregular in attendance/guilty of misconduct during the academic year for which scholarship has been granted.
    • If the parent(s) of the scholar ceases to be a Beedi/Mine/Cine worker.

*Note - If the scholars are found to have committed any one or more of the above after the scholarship amount has been paid, the amount shall be recovered forthwith from their parents.
