Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Internship Scheme 2022 is an internship opportunity offered by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Government of India) to graduate or postgraduate students/research scholars enrolled in recognized universities/institutions within India or abroad. The objective of the scheme is to allow young academic talents to be associated with the Ministry's work for mutual benefits. During the internship period, the interns will get an opportunity to get to know about the Government's functioning along with Regulatory and Development Policy issues. The interns will also get a chance to contribute (if required) to the amendments by providing inputs such as empirical analysis, briefing reports, policy papers, etc. The selected interns will receive INR 10,000 per month and a certificate.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must - 

    • Be pursuing graduation or postgraduation degree/research work from any recognized University/Institution within India or abroad 

     

    Note - Students who are pursuing MSc. Or PGDM degree from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) will be given preference.

    Benefits

    The selected interns will receive INR 10,000 per month and a certificate. 

    The interns will be required to have their own laptops. The ministry will provide the working space, internet facility and other necessities as deemed fit by the concerned Head of Division.

    Note - 

    • No stipend will be paid if the student leaves the internship before the completion of one month.
    • The amount of stipend will be paid proportionately depending upon the period of internship for the subsequent period of internship.
    • If an intern doesn't perform an assigned task in the ministry for more than 3 days in a month will cause a deduction of the stipend amount equivalent to the number of days in excess of 3 days.
    • The interns will have to make their own arrangements for boarding/lodging, transportation and stationery, etc.

    • Educational qualification certificates (only pdf file of max size 5MB allowed)
    • Copy of Marksheet/degree of Graduation/Postgraduation 
    • A letter from Supervisor/Head of the Department/Principal indicating their status in the institution

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the following procedure - 

  • All the applications received online will be forwarded to the concerned heads of verticals/units/divisions in the ministry and it's other formations for further scrutiny and selection.
  • The divisional head will formulate an internal scrutiny committee consisting of other relevant subject experts in the unit and officers. The interns will be selected based on merit by the divisional head in consultation with the internal scrutiny committee. 
  • The head of divisions/units can select a maximum of 2 (two) interns per discipline as per annexure I* for the internship at a time. Each Head of division/unit can avail a maximum of 2 interns in the unit in the specified 22 disciplines.
  • After the selection of the candidates, the concerned division will share the name of the selected interns with the administration through the portal itself. The decision of the divisional head on the proposed selection of a candidate as an intern will be final.

Terms and Conditions
  • The applications found incomplete or not fulfilling the above-mentioned criteria will be summarily rejected.
  • The applications from the applicants who have already completed the internship scheme, irrespective of the disciplines, in this ministry will not be entertained.
  • The internship will be conducted twice in a financial year (i) Summer Internship; and (ii) Winter Internship, the time schedule of which will be made available on the website of the Ministry from time to time.
  • The ministry reserves the right to update the scheme at any time. The updates will be reflected on the Ministry's website.
  • The Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will have the right to relax any of the conditions mentioned above, in respect of any deserving candidate.
  • The interns must clearly indicate their area of interest. The interns will have the option to apply in one discipline only.
  • The ministry reserves all rights to nominate an intern for any one subject, if the application is received for enrollment in more than one subject.
  • At the time of joining, the applicants are required to submit a letter from their Supervisor/Head of Department/Principal stating their position in the institute and a “No Objection Certificate” for allowing their student to undergo the internship programme for the period they are selected.
  • Depending upon the number of applications received against a particular domain/area, the ministry reserves the right to make changes in the eligibility criteria, limit the number of applicants to be called for a particular period and decide about the mode of screening thereof.
  • Seminars/presentations will be conducted by the concerned heads of particular divisions/units for their interns.
  • The attendance record and the details of work supervision will be maintained by the heads of the divisions/units.
  • The students will not have any claim for jobs in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change or any other organizations under its administrative control or its other formations.
