KSCSTE Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Scheme 2023-24 is an opportunity offered by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment to Ph.D. degree holders in Science and Engineering. The applicants are required to have high-quality research publications in SCI journals. The program encourages Ph.D. holders to pursue further research and develop a career as a scientist. The fellowship can be availed for research in any institute apart from institutes in India where the candidates have undergone Ph.D.work. The duration of the fellowship is limited to maximum 2 years. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 45,000 and other benefits.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must -

    • be a permanent resident of Kerala
    • have qualified Ph.D. as of the date of application
    • have scored a minimum of 60% marks in postgraduation
    • have published at least one research paper in an SCI Journal/secured patent
    • have chosen an institution as a research centre subject to the following -
    • Research Centre should not be the same as Ph.D Research Centre
    • The research centre should preferably be in Kerala, (however, premier National Institutions such as IISER, IIT, IISc etc. outside the State shall also be considered)
    • Tenable in Government Institutions only
    • Tenable only in R&D institutions (National/State level) or University Departments

    Note - Candidates who have already availed of one Post-Doctoral Fellowship from KSCSTE or elsewhere are not eligible to apply.

    Benefits

    Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 45,000, a 10% House Rent Allowance (HRA), and an annual contingency grant of INR 75,000 for the 2-year fellowship program.

    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the position using the steps listed below-
    Step 1:
    Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note - If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
    Step 3: Navigate to the ‘Procedure of Application’ section on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click it.
    Step 4: Click on the given link and navigate to the ‘Register New Account’ option and click it. (Note - Candidates who are already registered, can use valid credentials to log in)
    Step 5: Fill in the required fields to complete the registration.
    Step 6: After successful registration, fill in all the required information and upload the necessary documents to complete the application.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. 

Terms and Conditions
  • The Scientist Mentor must have at least 5 years of service left in the Institution before superannuation.
  • The post-doctoral fellow must submit an undertaking from the institution that the institution will extend all institute and laboratory facilities to the fellow for the successful implementation of the project.
  • The Scientist Mentor is responsible for constantly monitoring the progress of the project, facilitating the smooth implementation of the programme and ensuring the timely submission of the fund Utilization Certificate and Statement of Expenditure by the institute to KSCSTE.
  • KSCSTE reserves the right to terminate the programme at any time if it is found that satisfactory progress is not made in the implementation of the project.
  • The amount of the fellowship must be drawn by the institution and released to the post-doctoral fellow every month. Any unutilised amount at the end of each project year, along with interest accrued (if any), should be mentioned in the Statement of Expenditure and will be adjusted against future release.
  • The subsequent instalments will be disbursed by KSCSTE only after receiving the annual progress report and Statement of Expenditure & Utilization Certificate from the Head of the institution.
