Junior Research Fellowships for PhD 2018 is a scholarship for highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the broad areas of experimental, computational and theoretical plasma physics.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility - Candidate must have completed M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Engineering Physics or Applied Physics with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
- Candidates expecting a Master degree in any one of the above subjects by August 31st 2018 are also eligible to apply.
- Candidate must not be more than 26 years of age as on 1 August 2018.
- Candidate must have qualified at least one of the national level examinations:
(i) JEST – 2018 (in Physics)(ii) GATE in Physics (Paper code PH) valid for 2016/2017/2018 and(iii) CSIR–UGC-JRF-NET in June 2017 or December 2017 in Physical Sciences (Subject code PHY).Benefits - Selected students will be enrolled under Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be university of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India.
- A consolidated stipend of INR 25,000 per month shall be paid as JRF during first two years.
- The stipend will be raised to INR 28,000 per month as SRF, subject to satisfactory academic review.
- In addition, a book grant of INR 32,000 per year shall be paid.
- The students will get medical facility as per rules.
- Accommodation of outstation students: Limited hostel accommodations are available for selected candidates.

Selection Criteria
- The short listed candidates will be invited to appear for a personal interview at IPR.
- The selection of the candidates shall be based on two rounds of personal interviews.
- The candidates who qualify in the first round will be asked to appear for a second round of comprehensive interview, which may spill over the next day.
- The candidates are therefore requested to make their own arrangements for overnight stay in proximity to IPR.
NOTE: Candidates selected for interview will be paid to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare via the shortest route on production of valid tickets.
