International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Safety 2018 Reporting Fellowship
DeadlineClosed Eligibility An applicant must -- Be a journalist with relevant professional qualification and experience.
- Be proficient in the English language
Note: The preference will be given to candidates from middle or low-income countries and those who haven't participated in a WHO training workshop before.Benefits A total of 12 fellows will be selected under this program. It will cover all costs related to the fellowship that includes -- Travel to the conference

- Registration
Documents - An essay in not more than 500 words
- At least one fleshed-out story idea in about 300 to 500 words
- A commitment to produce at least three safety stories during and after the conference
- A letter of support from a newsroom manager or an editor endorsing the journalist's participation program
- A brief biography of up to 300 words
- A curriculum vitae(CV) or resume
- Two samples of recently published/broadcast/posted work focusing on safety or injury prevention (after 2015)

Terms and Conditions
- The essay to be submitted at the time of application must provide a detail about applicant's motivation and goals for seeking the fellowship, including three specific changes he/she hopes to make to his/her work as a result of the workshop.
- The story idea to be submitted at the time of application is for in-depth safety and injury prevention reporting project that contains data. The applicants can include ways to use social media and the digital tool to engage audiences in a dialogue about these crucial safety issues.
- During the workshop, the fellows will get an overview of different safety issues by ICFJ trainers and WHO experts.
- The trainers will also help the fellows in strengthening their reporting skills, with a particular focus on tracking down data from different sources, creating reports driven by data and developing visualisations and graphics for audience engagement.
- This year, its the 13th World Conference that will be held in Bangkok hosted by the Thai Government and WHO under the theme "Advancing injury and violence prevention towards SDGs".
