Jyoti Prakash Scholarship and Mentorship Program is an initiative of Buddy4Study India Foundation to support students with disabilities, transgender students, first-generation learners, orphans, single-parent children, and sportspersons to help them cover their educational/sports expenses and enable them to fulfill their dreams. Under this program, students who are currently studying in Class 9 to 12, graduation, or postgraduation courses; and sportspersons are eligible to apply for a scholarship of up to INR 24,000 to cover their academic/sports expenses. Moreover, the students will be informed about other relevant scholarship programs available on Buddy4Study platform. The students will also receive expert mentorship sessions from B4S employees.

- Applicants must have secured at least 55% marks in their previous qualifying examination.
- The annual family income of the applicant must be less than INR 6 lakh.

The selection of scholars for the Jyoti Prakash Scholarship and Mentorship Program 2023-24 will be made on the basis of the eligibility criteria specified. It involves a multi-stage process as detailed below -

You can apply for an income certificate both offline and online. To get an income certificate offline, you can visit offices such as municipal corporations, panchayats, town/city/village administrations, district or state level revenue or tax departments, sub-divisional offices or tehsil offices, and help centers or citizen service centers. When you visit the above-mentioned offices, please carry important supporting documents such as identification proof, address proof, salary slips, bank statements, or any other documents that reflect your family income. How can I apply for a transgender certificate?
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the issuing authority for transgender certificates. You can visit the official website of the National Portal for Transgender Persons and register yourselves for further processes.
How can I get a bonafide letter?
You can get a bonafide letter from the administrative department of your school/college. It includes important details such as the recipient's full name, enrollment status, course duration, institute details, authorised signature by the institute's higher authorities, etc. on the institute's letterhead.
Who are first-generation learners?
First-generation learners are those students whose parents are non-graduates. These students can come from families with low income or from middle/higher income families without a college-going tradition.
Will one-to-one mentorship sessions be provided to students under this program?
Yes. Under this program, one-to-one mentorship sessions will be provided to students by B4S employees. The following topics will be covered during the sessions:

3. Effective communication skills
4. Self-esteem enhancement
