About the Program

HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship 2022-23 aims to support meritorious and needy students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. The scholarship programme is meant for school students from Class 1 to those pursuing UG and PG programmes. Under the ECS scholarship, the students who are unable to bear the cost of education due to personal/family crisis or any other financial problems and are at a risk of dropping out are provided with monetary assistance of up to INR 75,000 for their studies. 

HDFC Bank, India’s leading banking and financial service provider, has introduced this scholarship as part of its flagship programme – Educational Crisis Scholarship (ECS). The bank has been undertaking various projects in the field of education and livelihood training as part of its social initiative - Parivartan.

  • HDFC Bank Parivartan's ECS Scholarship in School Programme (Merit-cum-Need Based) 2022-23

    Eligibility
    • The students must be currently studying in Classes 1 to 12 in a private, government, or government-aided school.
    • The applicants must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks. 
    • Annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh.
    • Preference will be given to those applicants who are facing a personal or family crisis that has occurred during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out. 
    • Children of employees of HDFC Bank and Buddy4Study are not eligible.
    • Open for Indian nationals only.

    Eligibility
    • The students must be pursuing graduation courses (general courses- BCom, BSc, BA, BCA, etc. and professional- BTech, MBBS, LLB, B Arch, Nursing) in recognized colleges or universities in India. 
    • The students pursuing Diploma courses after Class 10 or 12 can also apply.  
    • The applicants must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks. 
    • Annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh.
    • Preference will be given to those applicants who are facing a personal or family crisis that has occurred during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out.

    • The students must be pursuing postgraduation courses (general courses - MCom, MA, etc. and professional - MTech, MBA, etc.) in recognized colleges or universities in India. 
    • The applicants must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks. 
    • Annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh.
    • Preference will be given to those applicants who are facing a personal or family crisis that has occurred during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out.

  • What is the selection process for HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship?

    The selection process of HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship is a multi-stage process where students are selected on the basis of merit and their financial need or personal/family crisis. Details of the selection process are mentioned below:

    • Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of the academic merit and financial need/crisis
    • Shortlisted students will have to undergo a telephonic round of interview after which the final selection will be made
  • I do not have my current year’s admission fee receipt as I am unable to pay it for my B.Tech. (first-year) programme. How can I avail this scholarship?

    In order to apply for this scholarship, an applicant is required to submit their current year’s admission proof. In case, you do not have the fee receipt, you can submit the letter of admission or attested demand for fees on your college certificate to be considered for this scholarship.

  • I scored 53.4% marks in my Class 8 examination. Can I apply for this scholarship?

    No. You need to score at least 55% marks in your qualifying examination to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • If selected, will I get this scholarship for subsequent years of studies?

    No. This is a one-time scholarship. In order to avail of the scholarship for subsequent years, you need to apply as a fresh applicant for this scholarship ​in the subsequent years as and when the scholarship is renewed for the year.

  • Which document must be uploaded as income proof at the time of application?

    The applicants can upload any of the following documents as proof of income - 

    • Income certificate issued by SDM/DM/Collector's Office/Tehsildar
    • Salary slip or letter from employer
    • ITR
    • Affidavit
  • What documents must be submitted for different crisis cases?

    The following documents can be submitted for different crisis cases -

    Letter from the organization stating that the person has lost the job

    Self-employment failure

    An affidavit from Notary stating your self-employment failure

    Expenditure on medical treatment/critical illness

    Covid-19 test report/any other document which proves that the person is affected by Covid-19

    Natural disasters

    Document issued by the government authorities stating that the person is affected by a natural disaster

  • I passed my Class 12 examination in 2021 and after a gap year, I took admission in B.Tech (1st year). Can I apply for this scholarship?

    Yes, you may apply for this scholarship provided you have your current year admission proof which ensures the continuity of your education after the gap year.
