About the Program

HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship aims to support meritorious and needy students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. The scholarship programme is meant for school students from Class 6 to those pursuing UG and PG programmes. Under the ECS scholarship, the students who are unable to bear the cost of education due to personal/family crisis or any other financial problems and are at a risk of dropping out are provided with monetary assistance of up to INR 75,000 for their studies. 

HDFC Bank, India’s top banking and financial service provider, has introduced this scholarship as part of its flagship programme – Educational Crisis Scholarship (ECS). The bank has been undertaking various projects in the field of education and livelihood training as part of its social initiative - Parivartan.

  • HDFC Bank Parivartan's ECS Scholarship in School Programme (Merit-Cum-Means Based) 2021-22

    Eligibility
    • Open for Indian nationals only.
    • The students must be currently studying in Class 6 to 12 in a private, government or government-aided school.
    • The applicant must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks. 
    • Annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh (2,50,000).

    • The applicants must be studying in Class 6 to 12 in private, government or government-aided schools.
    • The applicants must be facing a personal or family crisis that has occurred during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out.

  • What is the selection process for HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship?

    The selection process of HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECS Scholarship is a multi-stage process where students are selected on the basis of merit and their financial need or personal/family crisis. Details of the selection process are mentioned below:

    • Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of the academic merit and financial need/crisis
    • Shortlisted students will have to undergo a telephonic round of interview after which the final selection will be made
  • Which cases would be considered in the crisis and need-based scholarships?

    The crisis could be considered for the following cases but not limited to them – 

    • Student would drop out of education immediately due to loss of income due to death of earning member
    • Orphans, differently-abled, single-parent child, third gender, COVID affected, critical illness, etc. 
    • Job loss, self-employment failures, medical procedures of family members, females, etc.
  • What documents must be submitted for different crisis cases?

    The following documents can be submitted for different crisis cases -

    Death certificate

    Job loss in the family

    Letter from the organization stating that the person has lost the job

    Self-employment failure

    An affidavit from Notary stating your self-employment failure

    Expenditure on medical treatment/critical illness

    Medical report/prescription from the doctor stating the illness

    Covid-19 affected

    Covid-19 test report/any other document which proves that the person is affected by Covid-19

    Natural disasters

    Document issued by the government authorities stating that the person is affected by a natural disaster
