MHRD through NCERT invites applications for the Yoga Olympiad 2017 to promote Yoga in Schools.

Schools students from Class 6 to Class 10 can participate. 

The finalists will be evaluated for their standing posture, sitting posture, prone posture and supine posture. Merit and Participation Certificates will be provided to the winners of Yoga Olympiad

Eligibility

All the Government and Government aided schools are eligible to participate in the Yoga Olympiad.

  • Upper Primary Stage comprises students’ from Class 6 to Class 8 can participate and the age group will be 10 to 14 years.
  • Secondary Stage comprises students’ from Class 9 to Class 10 and the age group 14 to 16 years.

All applications should be routed through the school Only.

MHRD through National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) invites applications for the Yoga Olympiad 2017 to take the multi-dimensional initiative to promote Yoga in Schools to integrate as an essential component of Health and Physical Education to highlight yoga as an essential component which contributes to the physical, social, emotional and mental development of a child. The theme of Yoga Olympiad for this year will be the "Yoga Olympiad will be Yoga for Health and Harmony". The Following dimensions of Yoga are embedded into ‘Yoga Olympiad’: 1. Shatkarma/Kriya (Cleansing Process), 2. Asanas, 3. Pranayama, 4. Dhyana (Meditation) (Not for evaluation), 5. Bandha and Mudra (Only for Secondary level).

Time Schedule of Organization of Yoga Olympiad:

  • Block / School Level: to be Complete by 30 April 2017
  • District level: to be Complete by 10th May 2017
  • State/UT level: to be Complete by 15th May 2017
  • National level: 18-20 June 2017 at New Delhi

Entries at National Level be sent to NCERT by 20th May 2017

Yoga Olympiad Result will be declared on the spot at New Delhi on 20 June 2017. The finalists will be evaluated for their standing posture, sitting posture, prone posture and supine posture. Merit and Participation Certificates will be provided to the winners of Yoga Olympiad
